Planned dates have a much better chance of going well. This is especially true when you are talking about the first few dates. But you don’t want an awkward silence where you are desperately grasping at anything to say, so cross dinner off the list. So what is left? Here are a few ideas that may help. 1. A trip to the Zoo or a Museum- This is a great idea for a first date. As you wander through the different exhibits, there are many topics of conversation available to you. So when there is a lull in the conversation, you can discuss the exhibit, or something that happened in class that the exhibit reminded you of. There are also plaques to read so that when you get too nervous, you can act like you are reading the information until you can compose yourself. 2. A trip to the amusement park- After you have been out of a few dates and are comfortable enough with them to spend the whole day without awkward pauses, and amusement park might be a the ticket. There is a variety of things to do there. There are prizes to be won and cotton candy to be shared. There are the slow leisurely relaxing rides and the fast exhilarating one. And you have plenty of time to chat while you are standing in line. 3. Go to a school sporting event- Movies are difficult to talk during, but school sporting events are perfect. Events like this allow you to sit down and watch what’s going on, but leaves room for talking and asking questions. There are also many subjects that lend themselves to conversation in this environment. 4. Go put and play miniature golf- I know, I know, it’s a kid’s game. But have you ever seen someone not smiling when they are playing miniature golf? It is silliness just lends itself to a good time. The game is played at a nice leisurely pace. Again there is much to talk about and other things to focus on during those pauses. 5. If you are both athletic, go out and do something active- There are many sports and activities that you can do. Go swimming. Play basketball. Go to the gym. Go for a run. You could even go horse back riding. Make sure that the clothing you wear on you date not only looks good, but also fits well. New clothes can be a real confidence booster, but make sure that you try them on so you know they will be suitable and comfortable on your date. Those brand new shoes might look great, but how well are you going to be able to focus on what your date is saying after you have walked around the zoo all day? With a little planning and for-thought, you are sure to have a good time on your date. |
